La FIFA sur le point d'annuler le Mondial 2022 au Qatar

Selon Jorge Ramps, reporter sportif à ESPN (Entertainment Sport Programming Network Incorporated), la FIFA s'apprêterait à retirer l'organisation de la coupe du monde au Qatar en 2022 et aurait demandé aux Etats-Unis de préparer un plan B. Enfin, selon le Sydney Morning Herald, le gouvernement australien envisage de réclamer à la FIFA l'argent déboursé pour la candidature à l'organisation du Mondial 2022 de football, à la suite des soupçons de corruption entourant l'attribution de la Coupe du monde au Qatar. L'ancien joueur professionnel de football, David Hill, a déclaré que le gouvernement australien était "fou" d'avoir risqué des fonds publics "quand tout le monde savait que le processus relevait de l'escroquerie".

Suite aux soupçons de corruption, Beckenbauer a été débarqué (il a été en fait suspendu de de toute activité dans le football pour 90 jours par la FIFA) tandis que Platini ne semble pas dans la meilleure de position pour remporter le poste de Sepp Blatter bien qu'il soit soutenu par les politiciens français et des membres de la FIFA. Après ses déclarations scandaleuses lors des manifestations qui ont précédé le mondial au Brésil, où il demandait aux manifestants de faire une pause le temps du mondial, puis les soupçons de corruption qui ont effleuré dans la presse suite à sa rencontre avec les dirigeants du Qatar organisés par le président Nicolas Sarkozy, il semble mal placé pour gravir la plus haute marche de la FIFA à moins que Sepp Blatter soit aussi pris dans l'oeil du cyclone.

According to Jorge Ramps, sports reporter for ESPN (Entertainment Sports Programming Network Incorporated), FIFA is preparing to cancel the organization of the Football World Cup in Qatar in 2022 and have asked the United States to set a second plan to receive the World Cup for 2022. Finally, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian Government intends to claw back the money for the bid to host the 2022 world Cup, in the wake of allegations of corruption surrounding the awarding of the football World Cup in Qatar. The former Soccer Australia boss David Hill has said the Rudd government was ''mad'' to risk public funds ''when everybody knew the process was crook".

Following allegations of corruption, Beckenbauer was send back (in fact, he is actually suspended by FIFA from all football activity for 90 days), while Platini does not seem in the best position to take the job of Sepp Blatter although he is tightly supported by French politicians and football staff. After his scandalous statements during the riots which preceded the Brazilian World Cup - as he was asking the demonstrators to make a break until the end of the World Cup - and finally the suspicions of corruption which arose in the medias after its rendez-vous with the leaders of Qatar organized by president Nicolas Sarkozy was revealed, he seems rather misplaced to climb the highest step of FIFA unless Sepp Blatter also falls in the eye of the storm.
