Le général Sisi soutient Israël dans sa guerre contre Gaza, c'est ce qu'a déclaré en substance Richard Falk, professeur états-unien de droit international à l'Université de Princetown.

Selon Richard Falk, ancien rapporteur spécial des Nations-Unies sur la défense des droits de l'homme dans les territoires occupés palestiniens : "Le gouvernement Sisi est déterminé à détruire les Frères musulmans et ils considèrent le Hamas comme une extension de la Fraternité". "Alors [le gouvernement Sisi est] d'une certaine manière du même côté qu'Israël dans cette confrontation particulière." [1]

Rappelons nous que les États-Unis fournissent une aide substantielle en armes au nouveau régime militaire de l'Egypte [2], dirigé par Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, qui a été porté au pouvoir grâce au soutien des Etats-Unis et qui sert les intérêts militaires égyptiens mais aussi israéliens. En effet l'intervention de l'armée égyptienne en juillet 2013 - qui ne cachait pas ses affinités avec l'ancien dictateur Moubarak et son inimitié vis-à-vis de Morsi et ses frères - est apparu non seulement comme un coup d'Etat militaire mais aussi comme un processus contre-révolutionnaire appuyé pour certains observateurs par l'oncle Sam [3]. Selon Global Research [4], les frères musulmans auraient été considérés comme des "remplaçants" transitoires à Moubarak et non comme une "alternative". L'Egypte est le principal bénéficiaire de l'aide militaire US après Israel. C'est un allié solide dans la région et si l'armée égyptienne a choisi cette position offensive en démettant un président élu démocratiquement, elle ne peut l'avoir fait qu'avec le feu vert du Pentagone [5-7]. Les Etats-Unis ont également subventionné l'opposition et les principales figures de l'opposition ayant appelé à manifester contre Morsi [8].

Or l'attitude de l'Egypte dans la région a contribué a aggravé la crise dans la bande de Gaza [1]. Selon le journal Al Monitor [9], le général Sisi a supervisé rapidement la destruction de près de 80 pour cent des tunnels entre Gaza et l'Egypte. Ces tunnels sont une bouée de sauvetage économique pour les habitants de Gaza, qui comptent sur eux pour l'approvisionnement en médicaments, en carburant, en nourriture et autres nécessités ; en outre, on estime que 40 pour cent des revenus du gouvernement de Gaza passe par ces tunnels. D'après Truthout [1], depuis le bombardement par Israël de la bande de Gaza, le 8 juillet 2014, la destruction des tunnels reliant la bande de gaza à l'Egypte contribue à augmenter les graves pénuries de fournitures médicales et de médicaments essentiels. En 2012, lors de l'offensive israélienne, les tunnels avaient été un moyen important pour Gaza de se procurer des fournitures médicales.

Ces éléments expliquent sans doute les déclarations de Richard Falk [1]. On assiste à une junte militaire affidée des autorités de Washington et qui soutient les volontés d'Israël et des Etats-Unis dans la région. On est donc en droit légitime de se demander, comment une telle junte peut organiser les pourparlers de paix entre Israël et les autorités de la bande de Gaza. Les dés seraient-ils pipés ?

General Sisi supports Israel in its war against Gaza. That is, what, basically, declared Richard Falk, US professor of international law at the University of Princetown .

According to Richard Falk, former Special Rapporteur of the United Nations on human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories
“The Sisi government is determined to destroy the Muslim Brotherhood and they view Hamas as an extension of the Brotherhood,” Falk said. “So [the Sisi government is] in a certain way on the same side as Israel on this particular confrontation.”[1]

Let us remind that the United States provide substantial weapons assistance to the new military regime of Egypt [2], led by Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who was brought to power with the support of the United States and who serves the Egyptian military interests as well as he Israelis ones. Indeed, Egyptian army's intervention in July 2013 - which did not hide his affinity with the former dictator Mubarak and his hostility towards Morsi and his muslim brothers - appeared to be not only a military coup but also a revolutionary counter process sustained, according to some observers, by Uncle Sam [3]. According to Global Research [4], the Muslim Brotherhood would have been considered "substitutes" transient of Mubarak and not as an "alternative". Egypt is the largest recipient of U.S. military aid after Israel. It is a strong ally in the region and if the Egyptian army has chosen this offensive position by dismissing a democratically elected president, it can not have been done withoout the green light of the Pentagon [5-7]. The United States also supported the opposition and the main opposition figures which have called for demonstrations against Morsi [8].

In fact the attitude of Egypt in the region has contributed to deteriorate the crisis in the Gaza Strip [1]. According to Al Monitor [9], General Sisi quickly supervised the destruction of nearly 80 percent of tunnels running between Gaza and Egypt. These tunnels are an economic lifeline for Gazans, who rely on them for medicine, fuel, food and other necessities; furthermore, an estimated 40 percent of the Gazan government’s revenue flows through these tunnels. According to Truthout [1], since Israeli's bombing of Gaza began, on July 8, 2014, the destruction of tunnels connecting the Gaza Strip to Egypt increased severe shortages of medical supplies and essential medical drugs. During Israel’s 2012 offensive the tunnels served as an important way for medical supplies to be brought into Gaza.

These elements certainly explain Richard Falk's declarations [1]. We are witnessing a military junta tightly connected to Washington authorities and supporting the wishes of Israel and the United States in the region. It is therefore legitimate to wonder how such a junta can arrange peace talks between Israel and the authorities of the Gaza Strip. Are the dice loaded ?
