Selon South Front, le 9 mars, l'Armée turque et ses supplétifs de l'Armée syrienne libre (ASL) ont poursuivi leur avance au nord de la ville d'Afrin et ont capturé le village de Sir'ayn et le mont Kachkadar dans le district de Bulbul ainsi que le village de Kafr Mize dans le district de Shara, selon des sources liées à l'ASL. Erdogan a déclaré que les forces turques pourraient entrer à tout moment dans le centre d'Afrin d'après l'AFP. Selon FNA, l'agence de prsse Hawar en langue kurde a rapporté qu'un total de sept soldats d'élite turques ont été tuées lors de tirs kurdes dans le village de Matina, dans la région de Shera.

Laut South Front, am 9. März setzten die türkische Armee und ihre Vertreter der Freien Syrischen Armee (FSA) ihren Vormarsch nördlich der Stadt Afrin fort und eroberten das Dorf Sir'ayn und den Berg Kachkadar im Bezirk Bulbul sowie das Dorf Kafr Mize im Bezirk Shara, laut Quellen, die mit der FSA in Verbindung stehen. Erdogan sagte, dass die türkischen Streitkräfte laut AFP jederzeit in das Zentrum Afrikas eindringen könnten. Laut FNA, die kurdischsprachigen Hawar-Nachrichten berichteten, dass bei der Operation der kurdischen Bewaffneten im Dorf Matina in der Shera-Region eine Summe von sieben türkischen Elitetruppen getötet wurde.
