Au prétexte de la lutte contre l'Etat Islamique d'Irak et du Levant (EIIL) - soutenu par les forces atlantistes en Syrie - les Etats-Unis vont renvoyer des troupes militaires en Irak.

L'administration Obama a informé le Congrès que jusqu'à environ 275 militaires états-uniens seront envoyés en Irak pour aider le Département d'Etat à relocaliser une partie du personnel de l'ambassade US à Bagdad dans les consulats de Basra et Erbil. Ces troupes apporteront leur soutien aux unités militaires irakiennes à Amman.
