Le groupe terroriste aurait renforcé jeudi son avance dans la province orientale de Deir al-Zor en prenant le champ de pétrole syrien d'al-Omar au groupe de combattants islamistes rivaux d'Al-Nosra, branche officielle d'Al-Quaïda.


La capture du champ pétrolier d'al-Omar donne à l'EIIL le contrôle des réserves de pétrole brut syrien, qui pourrait être utile aux combattants comme source de financement.
