Le 23 février, le président turc Recep Tayyip Erdogan a déclaré selon South Front que les forces turques avaient saisi 415 km2 et neutralisé plus de 1 800 "terroristes" depuis le début de l'opération "Rameau d'Olivier" dans la région syrienne d'Afrin, le 20 janvier. Le président a affirmé que la vitesse de l'opération augmentera, puis a continué : "Nous libérerons d'abord Manbij des terroristes, puis nous continuerons notre route jusqu' à ce que tout l'ouest de l'Euphrate soit en sécurité pour nous et nos frères syriens." Selon les sources de FNA, l'armée turque et des militants alliés auraient chassé les Kurdes du village de Meqdad, Qastal, Ali Jarou et d'une base militaire près d'Ali Jarou dans la région de Bolbol. Ils ont ajouté que les militants soutenus par Ankara ont également capturé les villages d'al-Safra' a, al-Rahmaniya, Korkan Tantani, Korkan Foqani et Sari Oshaqli après les affrontements avec les Kurdes. L'armée turque a envoyé un effectif de 1.200 forces d'élite au nord-ouest d'Alep mercredi pour rejoindre l'Opération "Rameau d'Olivier" contre les combattants kurdes dans la région d'Afrin au milieu du déploiement des forces populaires pro-Damas dans la ville kurde d'Afrin, selon des sources bien informées.

On 23 February, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said South Front that Turkish forces seized 415 km2 and neutralized more than 1,800 "terrorists" since the start of Operation Olive Branch in the Syrian region of Afrin on 20 January. 2. L'Armée turque bombarde un convoi de 30 véhicules entrant dans Afrin
Hier soir, les forces armées turques ont bombardé un convoi de 30 à 40 véhicules se dirigeant vers la ville d'Afrin. Selon l'état-major général turc, les FAT ont attaqué un convoi de 30 à 40 véhicules appartenant aux unités de protection du peuple (YPG), au Parti de l'Union démocratique (PYD), au Parti des travailleurs du Kurdistan (PKK) et de l'EI tandis que les Kurdes déclarent qu'il s'agissait d'un convoi d'aide pour la ville d'Afrin.(cf. vidéo ci-dessous). Comme rapporté hier, l'armée syrienne a répliqué en bombardant les zones où les FAT ont pilloné le convoi d'aide se dirigeant vers Afrin : "Les unités d'artillerie de l'armée syrienne ont bombardé les positions des forces turques après que celles-ci aient attaqué un convoi de secours se dirigeant vers la ville d'Afrin dans le nord-ouest d'Alep, selon des sources de terrain rapportées vendredi. Les sources ont rapporté que l'armée turque et leurs militants affiliés ont attaqué un convoi humanitaire qui se rendait à Afrin via le passage d'al-Ziyara au nord de la ville de Nubl. Ils ont ajouté que plusieurs camions ont été incendiés dans les attaques. Les sources ont indiqué que les unités de missiles turques déployées dans la ville d'Azaz ont tiré des dizaines de missiles sur le convoi d'aide, ajoutant que les chasseurs turcs ont également pilonné le village de Marayman et la petite ville de Shera dans la région d'Afrin". Last night, the Turkish armed forces bombed a convoy of 30 to 40 vehicles heading for Afrin last night. Nach Angaben des türkischen Generalstabs griff die TAF einen Konvoi von 30 bis 40 Fahrzeugen der People's Protection Units (YPG), der Democratic Union Party (PYD), der Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) und der EI an, während die Kurden behaupten, dass es sich um einen Konvoi von Hilfsgütern für die Stadt Afrin handelte (siehe Video). Wie gestern berichtet, reagierte die syrische Armee, indem sie die Gebiete bombardierte, in denen die FAT den Hilfskonvoi in Richtung Afrin pflügte: "Die Artillerieeinheiten der syrischen Armee beschossen die Positionen der türkischen Streitkräfte, nachdem diese einen Hilfskonvoi angegriffen hatten, der in Richtung der Stadt Afrin im nordwestlichen Aleppo unterwegs war, berichteten Feldquellen am Freitag.
