Les spéculations sont allées bon train sur la "chute" d'Afrin ce jour. Erdogan lors d'un discours télévisé a déclaré "Nous nous sommes un peu rapprochés d'Afrine. J'espère, si Dieu le veut, qu'Afrine sera complètement tombé d'ici ce soir", selon l'AFP. Les autorités kurdes ont déclaré que le président turque "rêvait éveillé", puis peu après la présidence turque avait du corrigé les propos d'Erdogan selon l'AFP : "M. Erdogan, qui avait déclaré mercredi "j'espère, si Dieu le veut, qu'Afrine sera complètement tombé d'ici ce soir", a en fait voulu dire qu'il espérait que "l'encerclement (d'Afrine) serait totalement achevé d'ici ce (mercredi) soir", a indiqué la source présidentielle dans un message adressé aux médias". Selon Reuters, Afrin est quasi encerclée par l'armée turque et ses supplétifs dijhadistes, l'eau ayant même été coupée : "eau a été coupée pour une semaine dans la ville syrienne d'Afrine, ont annoncé les Nations unies mercredi, après la prise de contrôle du principal barrage de la région par l'armée turque".
Selon South Front : "Le 14 mars, l'armée turque et l'armée syrienne libre (ASL) ont capturé les villages et villes de Kaz' e, Ma'arrata, Kuran, Cheikh al-Deir et al-Ghazzawiyah dans le district de Jandaris à l'ouest de la ville d'Afrin, selon des sources liées à l'ASL. En outre, l'armée turque a avancé au nord d'Afrin et a capturé le village d'al-Yabisa dans le district de Bulbul. L'agence de presse kurde Hawar News Agency (ANHA) a rapporté que l'armée de l'air turque (FAT) avait intensifié sa campagne de bombardement contre les unités de protection du peuple (YPG) dans la ville d'Afrin et dans le centre du district de Ma'betla, au nord-ouest de celle-ci. Au moins 9 civils ont été tués dans les bombardements des FAT, selon l'ANHA." Plusieurs militants pro-gouvernementaux syriens ont révélé que l'Armée arabe syrienne (AAS) avait commencé à déployer des unités du 5e Corps dans différentes parties de la région d'Afrin. En outre, des militants turcs ont confirmé que les unités de l'AAS avaient atteint le village de Basute, à seulement 7 km au sud d'Afrin. Selon South Front : "Le déploiement de l'AAS dans la zone d'Afrin semble être le résultat d'un accord entre la Turquie, la Russie, YPG et le gouvernement de Damas.".

Speculation has been going well on Afrin's "fall" this day. Erdogan in a televised speech said "We got a little closer to Afrine. The Kurdish authorities said that the Turkish president "dreamed awake", then shortly after the Turkish presidency had to correct Erdogan's words according to the AFP :"Erdogan, who had said on Wednesday "I hope, God willing, that Afrine will have fallen completely by tonight", in fact meant that he hoped that "the Afrin encirclement would be fully completed by this (Wednesday) evening," the presidential source said in a message to the media. März eroberten die türkische Armee und die Freie Syrische Armee (FSA) die Dörfer und Städte Kaz'e, Ma'arrata, Kuran, Sheikh al-Deir und al-Ghazzawiyah im Distrikt Jandaris westlich der Stadt Afrin, laut Quellen, die mit der FSA verbunden sind.
