Selon South Front, "Le 21 mars, l'armée turque et ses supplétifs de l'Armée syrienne libre (ASL) ont capturé la ville chrétienne historique de Barad et le village de Kimar au sud de la ville d'Afrin, selon des sources liées à l'ASL. Des sources ont indiqué que l'artillerie de l'armée turque avait soutenu l'attaque contre l'armée arabe syrienne (AAS) et les unités de protection du peuple kurde (YPG) à Barad et avait bombardé plusieurs positions de l'AAS et du YPG dans la ville et au sud de celle-ci. Des sources sur le terrain ont rapporté mercredi que l'armée turque et ses militants affiliés ont ouvert un nouveau front opérationnel contre les milices kurdes au sud de la ville d'Afrin mardi. Les militants soutenus par Ankara ont pris le contrôle de la montagne stratégique d'al-Ahlam et des villages de Basouteh, Ein Dareh, Karzihleh et Qazi Rihleh lors d'affrontements avec les forces kurdes en Afrique australe. Feldquellen berichteten am Mittwoch, dass die türkische Armee und ihre angegliederten Kämpfer am Dienstag eine neue Operationsfront gegen die kurdischen Milizen südlich der Stadt Afrin eröffnet haben. Die von Ankara unterstützten Kämpfer gewannen die Kontrolle über den strategischen Berg al-Ahlam und die Dörfer Basouteh, Ein Dareh, Karzihleh und Qazi Rihleh in Auseinandersetzungen mit den kurdischen Truppen im südlichen Afrin. In der Zwischenzeit berichteten Feldquellen, dass die syrische Armee Dutzende ihrer Streitkräfte und militärischen Ausrüstung in die Dörfer Nobl und al-Zahra in der Nähe von Tal Rafa'at in Südafrika geschickt hat."
